Born To Run

Monday 28 July 2008

Black spent the day in the streets
A runaway American dream
Night cross mansions
Of glory in suicide car
That jump from their cages on Highway 9
With chrome wheels, fuel injected
Trying not to pass the mark
Oh baby, this city will start from the back bone
It's a death trap, is a call to suicide
We have to get out of here while we are young
Tramps like us because
Baby, born to run

Wendy, let me go, I want to be your friend
I want to keep your dreams and visions
You just have to tighten your legs around these velvet rims
And the engine tie your hands together
We could escape this trap
Run to the last drop
Baby, never again
Oh Will you walk with me for the wire?
Because, baby, I'm just a scared and lonely rider
But I know what it feels
I want to know if your love is wild, I want to know if love is real

On the other side of the Palace at half-power hum
Squeak by the Boulevard
The girls were combing the mirrors
And the boys try to play hard
The park stands rigid and defiant
The kids are crowded into a cloud on the beach
Tonight I want you to die in the streets
In an everlasting kiss

The highways are jammed hero destroyed
In a last chance to engines
Everyone has fled tonight
But there is no place to hide
Together, Wendy, we can live with the sadness
I will love you with all the madness in my soul
Oh, one day, girl, I do not know when
We arrive at this place where we go
And walk in the sun, but until then
Tramps like us
Baby, born to run

"Born To Run" is a song that makes me a lump in the throat. For those who know in depth the career of Bruce Springsteen surprise that abuse of the hang-worn topic of the sambenito that only talks about cars and girls. Its theme encompasses much more. However, "Born To Run" is the pinnacle of this mise en scene. Cars and girls. When Springsteen spoke of things that happen to kids in the street knew very well what I said (after the megahit "Born In The USA" has changed quite a bit). You have to run, no matter where you carry the momentum, it is essential to escape from a stifling and mediocre reality. The American dream becomes a nightmare and clings to romantic removed. If you have someone to fight for at least worth the effort. I will always remember the remark was ironic that Chris Moltisanti ( "The Sopranos", where for more INRI has a starring role Steven Van Zandt) to a question of great Toni Soprano: "The highways jammed with broken heroes," he let go on a date indisimulada to justify its delay. A verse of a song glorious immortal. The truth is that this album is the Everest (has poker aces: "Thunder Road", "backstreets", "Jungleland," "Born To Run" ... and the other four are also cojonudas). There was a time when he preferred the "Darkness On The Edge Of Town." I find it more representative of what is Springsteen. When a guy who composed under the effluents of the anger and anguish many wins integers. Now I appreciate the "Darkness", but I stay with the romanticism spectoriano of "Born To Run." But in the future and prefer to change the bleak universe of "Nebraska." It's the great thing about music. Never be exhausted. Always reinterprets. And it fits what you're experiencing at that moment.
