Harvest Moon

Tuesday May 20, 2008

Come a little closer
Listen to what I have to say
As children sleeping
We can dream all this night

But there's a full moon looming
Dancing in the light
We know where the music plays
Let's go out and feel the night

Because I'm still in love with you
I see you dance again
Because I'm still in love with you
On this harvest moon

When we were strangers
I've watched from afar
When we were lovers
I loved you with all my heart

But now it's getting late
And the moon is very high
I want to hold
See it shining in your eyes

Because I'm still in love with you
I see you dance again
Because I'm still in love with you
On this harvest moon

    Harvest Moon - Neil Young

Until now I had never read the lyrics without listening to music. It has seemed too simple (of course in translation loss is inevitable details.) But oh miracle! heard the song, every word in the teacher's voice is revealed impossible to perceive when reading them. A few simple notes, simple words, feelings can become intense and unforgettable experiences. I was scared after reading the translation to hear it again lost part of the magic that had always heard. Not at all: it is even more special to see that the letter is a fraction of all that music expresses and interpretation.
(Go roll, to say that the song I've always loved)
Luis: I see you're soaking the teacher: I imagine you are wanting them near the dates of performance.
    Greetings

Occasionally the teacher Neil gets wonderful countryside and makes discs soaked in the best country. "Harvest," "Comes A Time", "Harvest Moon" and "Prairie Wind" contains great moments. The fact is that this is a genre that fluently. Stop occasionally feast of distortion you feel very well.

The lyrics of "Harvest Moon" is a good example of how he writes Neil Young. It is a style visionary poet Bob Dylan or Jim Morrison, not a storyteller of urban nightmares like Lou Reed or a fine songwriter who speaks of the divine and the human as Leonard Cohen. Neil Young is more direct. His songs have clear and simple messages. May be compromised or be immersed in the classic love lyric. "Moon Harvest" is a beautiful song of love. No, not "Visions of Johanna." The excitement comes from another channel. Neil goes straight to your heart.

Well that .... a true poet transmitter of emotions that does not use a single metaphor, which makes an accomplice to the listener of all kinds of feelings that most of the time are totally unrelated at first.
For me is a genius and I still shudder remembering the concert I saw in Paris on February 15.
