Josh Homme will go down in history as one of the greatest guitarists of all time and as the guy who invented the best names for their bands. Eagles of Death Metal is the last of his side projects which publishes an album. The band emerged from the recording of one of the first records of the "Desert Sessions" and from that moment Homme fans have been begging for an album of the group.
"Peace Love Death Metal" (sic), is the result of much prayer and cry. The reason that Homme could not join his fellow institute Jesse "the Devil" Hughes before were the years of intense touring and recording to which Homme has been doomed by the relative commercial success and wide recognition of musical harvested by Queens the Stone Age. Once the last of the "Desert Sessions" and having dismissed QotSA Nick Oliveri for its famous Gap has been able to take the time, three days, for recording the 17 songs that make up this album.
But if Queens of the Stone Age were neither queens or lived in the Stone Age, Eagles of Death Metal and have no feathers or touch satanic riffs. "Peace Love Death Metal" is a small joyita of R'n'R well done, quite danceable, somewhat Raritan and sincere. The first surprise is not so personal to hear the voice of Homme nor even his most personal guitar, Joshua was going on in this case the stick and a chorus. It is Hughes who is responsible for providing both voice and guitar chords and whoever does not will miss at least Homme in this work. Hughes's voice is much more suitable for the R'n'R and more versatile, if we consider that the style of songs range from the more danceable and sexy "I Only Want You" and "Speaking in Tonga" the Southern rock, a quasi-plagiarism of the "Strutter" of KISS in "So Easy", via a version of "Stuck in the Middle with You" by Stealers Wheel song and grazing surf rock.
Josh Homme goes very well stopped their passage to the battery, and although the rhythms seem simple are not. Lots of tambourine, and much much cowbell rhythm.
Move your hips baby, the Eagles Metal Mortal already here and want to see you naked to the rhythm of his music.
