Not the dream of desecrating the dead (1974)

Director: Jorge Grau
Cast: Ray Lovelock, Cristina Galba, Arthur Kennedy

Do not desecrate the Dream Of The Dead Imagine for a moment a movie of zombies Hispanic - Italian starring a guy who calls himself Ray Lovelock, Italian and bred true in reality, and a Spanish name "anglofilizado" for becoming more apparent, former flight attendant from 1 2 3 finished in the film to uncover. Añádanle to that a pair of archetypal characters, including the police "square head", as well as a few glycine (more or less hinted recato) and gore of the marketplace.

After reading such a breakthrough, many do not think that the dream of desecrating the dead is a Trun of biblical proportions, but nothing is further from the truth. This film, incredible as it may seem, is perhaps one of the best ever produced tapes of terror in Spain (not CONAE) despite the fact that, over the years, has been forgotten even by the most (supposedly) staunch fans Gender (sacrilegious!).

Awarded in Sitges in all fairness, not the dream of desecrating the dead was filmed in English and lonely landscapes of the English countryside by Jorge Grau, a guy who despuntaba talent and that fell within the new generation of filmmakers who, like Garci, aspired to break the molds of our cinema with freshness and new ideas. Unlike Garci and other members of this "generation of 70," Grau end up chaining a mediocre job after another and buried by the mists of oblivion.

Well-constructed and entertaining despite its stereotypes, the truth is that this tape, given to the "atmosphere" suitable (in the dark, alone ...) surprised by what you can get to acojonar. This undoubtedly contributes the excellent use of natural settings in which the action passes, which give it a sordid and macabre that it comes from pearls. Some may get in the face to the vagaries gore thing that is taken at the end, but I believe that it is not for both. Besides, what would a movie of zombies without their ration of casquería?. And we must also say that despite the simplicity derived from the low budget available, special effects and makeup are quite achieved.

In short, do not desecrate the sleep of the dead is an ideal place to spend a bit of fun without pretensions bad roll. It may scare or not, but from my point of view deserves an opportunity and certainly more of a surprise. It also contains a strong green message, something quite striking because, in 1974, the company had barely aware of what is needed is respect for nature.

In the best of the genre.

The atmosphere is perfect for a movie on living dead. Much better a little village, a hospital and a cemetery that a department store, with all due respect.

With all the mistakes-product of its time, which may have, I think the 2nd best zombie movie in history. The 1st is obviously the unique Night ... Everything that came later were merely diversions from the right path.

Is the bad luck of the zombie genre. Who had recently begun plateaued.

I would say more. In 1895, the Lumiere brothers made the first film (scenes of the sea, a train, etc.).. Well, all I was after but have not been deviations from the right path. That of the Lumière brothers was the first film and also the only one worthy of being the global film industry had reached its limits.

Primitive man lived in caves, eating raw meat and occasionally rose to the trees. Everything we have done after (cooking food, buying newspapers for promotions and see televised football) has been deflected from the right path.

Come on, man! Let's be a little serious ...
