The Good Thief seemed at first glance a typical thriller of robberies as "Ocean's Eleven" but the direction of Neil Jordan, the European origin of the film and especially the presence of Nick Nolte to think of something a little more work.
Nick Nolte to embodies Bob, a mature American robber who spends his days hooked to heroin and gambling in the underworld of the city of Nice, the appearance of Anne (NUTS Kukhianidze), a young prostitute, will make Bob wants to dock to take a big hit and last, opportunity comes at a casino in Monte Carlo, where they are exposed valuable paintings by famous painters. Bob is followed closely by the police chief (Tchéky Karyo) who has been waiting for years to discover and arrest were then begin planning the robbery, heroin and Bob left the game and brings his team to more pure style of Frank Sinatra.
The Good Thief is a European co-production and the entire film is shot in Nice and Monte Carlo, except Nolte and Ralph Fiennes the division is composed of players semidesconocidos representing some overly stereotyped roles, in fact, the good feelings that transmits on a splendid Nick Nolte was diluted quickly as expected and the skin that is history and what level of interpretation of the side.
Without doubt the best interpretation of Nolte, superb in the first part of the film in her role as kind embittered hooked to heroin, then their role, like the rest of the movie is losing interest until an outcome that can only be described as ridiculous.
I must admit that the film is certainly entertaining if you forgive all the cliches but the feeling is somewhat disappointing end because maybe the story did not provide for much more, but the character of Bob he could have drawn more fairly juice.
