Eagles of Death Metal
Peace Love Death Metal
Ant Acid Audio 2004

Josh Homme go down in history as one of the greatest guitarists of all time and as the guy who invented the best names for their bands. Eagles of Death Metal is the last of his side projects which publishes an album. The band emerged from the recording of one of the first records of the "Desert Sessions" and since then fans Homme have been begging for an album the group.
"Peace Love Death Metal" (sic), is the result of much prayer and mourning. The reason that Homme could not join his fellow institute Jesse "the Devil" Hughes was before the years of intense touring and recording to Homme has been seized on by the commercial success and reaped great appreciation for music of Queens the Stone Age. Once the last of the "Desert Sessions" and having dismissed QotSA Nick Oliveri for its famous Gap has been able to take your time, three days for the recording of 17 songs that make up this album.
But if Queens of the Stone Age and queens were not lived in the Stone Age, Eagles of Death Metal and have no feathers or touch satanic riffs. "Peace Love Death Metal" is a small joyita r'n'r of well done, totally danceable, somewhat rarito and sincere. The first surprise is not so personal hearing the voice of Homme or even more personal guitar, Joshua is going on in this case to the sticks and choirs. Hughes is in charge of providing both voice and guitar chords and who does not miss Homme least in this work. Hughes's voice is much more suitable for r'n'r more versatile and, if we consider that the style of songs range from the most sexy and danceable "I Only Want You" and "Speaking in Tongues" andalusia southern rock, a quasi-plagiarism of "Strutter" by KISS in "So Easy", via a version of "Stuck in the Middle with You" by Stealers Wheel songs and touching their surf rock.
Josh Homme goes well stopped their way to the drums and the rhythms seem simple but are not. Many tambourine, cowbell and much much rhythm.
Move your hips baby, the Eagles Metal Mortal already here and want to see you naked to the rhythm of his music.

The Roots - The Tipping Point

The Roots
The Tipping Point
Geffen 2004

Ho, ho, ho, as I like this record. After a short period of denial and refusal to see the clear intention of The Roots to record this Discazo, or giving a tour of musical styles associated with hip hop but that "officially" not part of it. "The Tipping Point" is an exercise in eclecticism and self quite opposite to his previous release, "Phrenology," which sinned some slippage in the implementation and the musical director. The Roots are beyond the prevailing neo-soul "Phrenology" delivered to a less commercial and more entertaining.
The album has a funky start on Black Thought makes true master of ceremonies and disc featuring the band and demonstrating their flow. "I do not care" thing gets even more funky with Black Thought rimando again. The third cut and first single, "Do not Say nuthin '," appears to be the group's first foray into bases programmed, very modern and effective. In "Guns Are Drawn" the group enters the field of reagge which combines perfectly with the slight touch of the Middle East situation in "Stay Cool," the next track, very relaxed and laid back. "
"Web" and "Boom" is a return to old school style of his early recordings. The flow of BT has incredible speed and lightness that were it not for having been able to hear live would say is impossible. "Somebody's Gotta Do It" turns to slow the tempo of the disc accelerates again with "Duck Down," a nod to gansta rap. The end of the disk repair surprises, especially to the European public.
A highlight in which the duo have become The Roots, Black Thought and Questlove, which are linked and that all issues carry the weight of composition and interpretation of the disc. The group showed its control over all styles and premium an attempt to maintain simplicity in the execution of the songs, the first listen seems even make simple. Not an easy album to digest, and does not reach the brilliance shown in "Things Fall Apart", undoubtedly his best work, but The Roots show their intention to progress and evolve musically.

This Is Spinal Tap

This Is Spinal Tap (1984)

Director: Rob Reiner
Cast: Rob Reiner, Michael McKean, Christopher Guest

If you have been in any band you can not fail to see this movie, the bible of the true musician and pipe. "Spinal Tap" is a rockumental about the vicissitudes of an English band, Spinal Tap, during his second season tour of the U.S. of A. You start wearing nothing but the pleasant surprise that it is an American film starring actors from "Saturday Night Live" from the golden era, the famous NBC show where comedians have emerged as Chevy Chase, Dan Ackroyd, Billy Crystal and others. The protagonists of the film, Michael McKean, Christopher Guest and Harry Shearer is not as famous but who are more familiar, and rare is the day that do not appear in any series or movie siestera of any channel, and balance.
The film focuses on the form of fake documentary, but the players are so good you hesitate to make a more than once if there is Spinal Tap really. In fact the band, after the success of the film, and he remained a gala with other musical qualities of the protagonists, the true interpretation of the six strings and authors of the songs. The music is perfectly suited to the theme of the film, the performances are perfect and only in the letters is that they are making fun comic compositions of songs by groups "hair metal" of the moment. Among the battery of the world more dangerous is undoubtedly be behind the kit for this band, none lasting more than a few concerts. One example is that a few years ago put an ad in a magazine looking for battery, the text was brief and said: "Battery dead, wanted a new one."
During this tour the band is faced with everything that can go wrong, people do not know, you lose track of the stage, with Yoko Ono situations, be teloneros of Teleñecos, batteries die by burning expontanea etc. Besides mocks all the tricks and inventions of rock bands like the makeup, guitars estrambóticas (a low of two masts, for God), scenarios ridiculous the spandex.
In the end it's like joining the worst of KISS, Jefferson Airplane, Black Sabbath and other legendary bands. I have not stopped reirme, and would have done more if not for the lack of subtitles, and because the actors imitate the perfect English accent and expressions of that country. What's more songs left to hear the players and put their fingers on the frets correct.
For those who want to know more about this group, Spinal Tap.
