Interview Bandini

Bandini esperadisimo finally have their first album in the street, an album called "The Album Sunny" which synthesizes it to perfection for years demonstrating that Bandini above scenarios, which are one of the best rock bands of the national scene. Faced with such an important time when we could not let pass the opportunity to talk with Richard Ruiz and Jose Guinea, the only original members of the gang who kindly agreed to answer our questions. This is the result.

Richard Ruiz -Ricardo Ruiz, making a little history, as you value your step today by Dirty Pond and Kaplan, or more recently by Orlando?

On the one hand, you mean the first two bands, which formed part, along with my brothers, some time ago. Imagine what brought me to be with these people doing what I like best, learning, playing good songs, stomping about musical studies for the first time (the Carlos Torero for the disc Kaplan, by the way), as well as within different scenarios and outside Madrid. All this was a great value for all of us involved, being a unique experience.

For another, experience with Orlando led me to learn from veteran musicians and wide vagaje, get familiar with the excellent team to play, traveling to sites in Spain where he had never been before and ultimately to participate in his musical vision and experience . In music is to learn everything, as I say. In fact Jaime and I played with Inhabitants, who have a perspective akin to musical Bandini but at the same time very different in terms of speech.

-According to information posted on the Internet, Bandini forms along with drummer Jose Guinea (the only two members unchanged) in 2003, after a stay of 4 months in Norway (where solo act first and then forms the band Rubbermaid Band). How important would grant such a trip?

Probably more than you should grant it, I caught in a time where I just wanted to go as far as possible, and ended up in a village in the polar circle, many experiences in a very short time. When I returned to Spain had no motive at this time I wrote songs such as depression or who have ended up missing a counterpoint to be part of the disc.

-The name of the band gather that comes from your affinity for the screenwriter and author John Fante You pusisteis thinking of the father, Svevo Bandini, or his son Arturo Bandini? In what measure ye identificáis with him / them or with the narrative of John Fante and Charles Bukowski?

Normally be a real headache for any group to find a suitable name. A name that sounds good. If he has any meaning is not necessary if you get it first, in the sense that it sounds consistent with what you do musically. By this I do not mean you have to find a logical connection between form and content. The words, plus a meaning, have a sound. When we put on the table the possibility of using that name had no doubts. It sounded good, and I understand. Nor does there need to explain this or that about where it came from. It's a nice name, easy to remember.

Besides, given the fact that more than one in the group we like how Fante writes, which makes him all the more natural.

-Using the information found on the Internet, it becomes 5 components in 2005, the year after they had left Manuel Cabezalí, Charli Bautista (both currently in Habalina Blue) and Fernando Gutierrez, with the formation of 4 members with the addition of Jaime Olmedo (Plan 9) and Carlos Seoane (Inhabitants). In the current page for My Space are only 3, Carlos Seoane disappearing. Were all these changes by relationship problems or personal circumstances? Do you think that at last you have a stable band, or do you not concerned about this issue?

Everything takes time. Today we are on track to achieve a strength of which we expect good results in the medium term. The foundations have already been placed and we are happy with that. The most normal when you play in these groups is that many changes have training throughout their existence, it is almost a biological issue. Given the appropriate circumstances for which four or five people fit as perfectly as possible on a common project is not simple, we are fortunate that our group is getting.

All the people who brought you mention your point of view and style of music and learned much of it all. Always comes a time when we have to make decisions and put efforts in one direction or another, hence the changes of musicians. To them the same thing has happened in their own projects, not easy.

In addition to these musicians mentioned, I would also remind our first bassist, Jose Luis Trillo, who gave us the confidence necessary first margin, as well as Mani, its sutituto, also bass player. The labor commitments in the first case and the differences of style in the second were the reasons for their departures combo. Jose Guinea -Although Ricardo Ruiz is the composer of the vast majority of the items How often operate the group when it comes to riding the original composition, there is clearly someone who decides the sound and arrangements of the songs, or you are more in favor of each bring their ideas and then be analyzed?

Jose Guinea: Richard usually leads to local songs almost finished and the group manages. Depending on the song, there may be a transformation more or less large, but only in terms of the arrangements. This involves issues such as speed, the nuances, dynamics, textures, etc ... The way how the piano accompanies it, where to introduce a break or not, the parties allotted to the soloists and the election of his character, if there is choirs and how they will be, etc ... Sometimes the song to bare it all and said the arrangement falls if only as a ripe fruit. Other becomes more complicated than you can imagine and we are not always the solution, by the way. Is what ultimately just forming what we call style, and that ultimately define a band over time. We say that a band is good when the line between those who create the songs and that is to develop optimally. We play together because they understand music in a manner akin.

- How was the experience in 2006 as a demo project and then as semifinalists seconds of the contest?

It's the sort of situation that does not allow the music to flow as it is natural. The music can only be viewed in a way, that's like half for you to see and listen to people who otherwise would not know of your existence. It is a matter of practice. It is very natural to feel a Martian in a situation like this, because it is not pleasant to compete as a musician. That kind of taste sensations we would have preferred a different type of activity in life. But there was. Fulfilled its role and everything that we came by that side was positive.

- What were the major drawbacks that you have found to get the record first album?

Two things: inexperience and under budget. Carlos Torero was at the time and right place.

- Have you been happy at the level of production? Personally at eavesdropping early (as they repeated the auditions that feeling was going to decline) noticed the voice sometimes as if it were placed in a plane different from the music, like 'exaggerated' closer, has it been this intentional?. Instead of synthesizer sounds seem to me very special and magical What have you been most and least satisfied?

All you hear is intentional. That does not mean that if we had been given another month to study the thing would not have been different. We have tried to get the most out of what he had. I refer to the previous answer. We like the status of the voice on the set. We were not thinking about it had happened. It's popular music. Everything is built around the voice. It is the element whose form and content should be as clear as possible, even at the expense of the rest of sounds. There are classic albums where if you look there is often defined what is going on in the background, but the song comes to you with great force and effect, because the voice has been recorded so that the listener perceives very clearly all the vocal nuances Since it is the music par excellence, which directs the flow emotionally. But that's not the case of the disc at hand. You can listen well and follow each of the instrumental lines. They are very well mixed. The keyboards are very beautiful, you're right. Both in the sense timbre as in the kind of musical language employed. Carlos Seoane did a great job of the first on the disc. There are certainly many things that if we changed that if given the chance. But it is not. As I say, all you learn.

A double-album recording as a first officer did not remember that nobody has done so far (although I do not dare to ensure that it is the first one).
Apart from what may represent as unusual, what reason he has taken to offer so many songs? Is it perhaps make it a closed stage, and start from scratch for an upcoming album? Did not you have raised the danger of a work that might be too dispersed?

The reason for that is double was none other than the failure to be able to decide on what should be and what not, combined with the fact that it would be a simple disk too long. We always liked vinyl as a format. Not only for its beauty, but also by the wisdom of its average duration: 45 minutes. Our record, to be simple and contain fewer songs would have surely surpassed the 60 because it had a lot of material and the songs are extensive but key to the short time needed for balance. So why not publish two discs of 35 minutes, giving the listener a margin a little wider choice? We do not see anyway that this is the most important thing.

We hope that this is not a dispersed workforce. Nor has a clear conceptual idea, just a couple of reasons that give connection, but they have a very personal nature. We're eager to receive views. Yet we have formed our own. One week ago we received the disc released. We do not believe that we have given the nail on the head, but not otherwise. We're just happy to have been able to see those songs and with tremendous desire to return to recording when the time comes.

I think the first double debut in the history of pop was that of The Mothers of Invention for over forty years, but would not hand in the fire. What is more, right?

-You have a reputation for being a good group live Where you feel more comfortable, in or in the recording studio?

Both are part of a whole. In the epic pop everything in the study, but the music is a shared experience most of the time. It grows when performing together, when listening to your friends, when the play for other people. As for the study, we would like to have one and test it to be able to log everything it worth and work on it again and again until finding the best way you can get every song. It is a real chance for those who have one. With regard to direct, we enjoy a lot of scenery among other things because we strongly believe in what we do and compositions surround us in a very emotionally intense when we play. The response of the public tends to go in that direction too, which is very rewarding. It is therefore important to maintain a certain regularity of concerts.

- What upcoming projects you have that you are the most attractive?

Begin to burn models of the new songs. We would also like to play live introducing the disk outside Madrid.

-Going into most contentious issues, what do think the fact that they can listen to your disk before it has been officially launched?
Where you believe that the future will be aimed at the music market?

We have no idea of the future in general. On the former, great. It is a real chance that someone is interested in our music downloaded from the Internet. If you also participates in what is contained therein, the target will be met. For now we just want to have the opportunity to be heard.

And Now for Something finalize project that you would like to come to perform, although for now he seems unattainable?

We'd like to travel playing this music for people who have not ever seen and, as I have said before, have space for recording media and assiduously.
