John Lennon / Plastic Ono Band
Apple 1970
When the Beatles split in 1970 left a huge deposit, not only for the millions of fans but also to the members of the gang, who were faced with the difficult crossroads raised by their status as absolute star and uncertainty about their future.
Paul McCartney soon opted to follow the path of success, delivering records solo and with The Wings, accessible and light with which to continue gathering fame, recognition and popularity, John Lennon's case was not so simple, its stage Success with the Beatles returned to the many frustrations and contradictions that were to emerge now in his solo stage, fame and success had not been able to meet all their concerns, and now it faced the world alone, without the protective his group was really confusing.
John Lennon, with his inseparable wife, Joko Ono, scoring a number of activities outside of music, became a bold and politically active, and when music was tested with different registers and styles, not always with successful results.
"John Lennon / Plastic Ono Band" was his first studio album as such after-the Beatles, a hard disk, hard and imbued with a brutal honesty, Lennon openly confronted here with all its ghosts in a little exercise of introspection sometimes seen in popular music, with a lucidity, courage and clarity certainly unusual.
In "Look at Me" asks: who I am supposed to? What is supposed to me, showing a sensitivity and a heartbreaking fragility, in "Mother" reflects on his childhood lost on all that has stopped being what it is to live, being the big star in which he became in a song full of resentment and bitterness, these feelings are the ones that prevail in these compositions, some issues around naked artifice, reduced to the minimum, in which Lennon reflected the new influences on American music that had become away in the pop and assuming ownership sounds close to rock to folk and country. in other subjects, however, there is also room for humor, for the political demand for love.
"John Lennon / Plastic Ono Band" is such a unique masterpiece, an album that nothing unique in the over, which is nothing more, a record of a beauty, a look at indiscreet thoughts of a more intimate man already become legend.
After this record John Lennon continued to work together to deliver great minor works, albums and songs that, despite successes in many cases point went undetected for the general public, blinded by the long shadow of the Beatles.

Minimalist album moved me from beginning to end. Between sadness and happiness that only you can give women. In this case, the mother and the great love, Yoko Ono, of Lennon. The rest is silence.
Before listening to my bias was yoko - the quer by cieto start to doubt that much because I had so many things, and he feared an album full of experimental belching poorly known. But that was not my surprise: a disc effectively minimalist, very personal, transmitting life, frustration and, above all humanity, with all that that entails. A record that I personally very pure love.
and could remove that awful picture of bowie proustiana, no? has very little to do with the one who said, ironically, that was glam rock and roll with lipstick
