Groundhog Day
Groundhog Day
Groundhog day (1993)
Director: Harold Ramis
Cast: Bill Murray, Andie MacDowell, Chris Elliott
The tandem composed by Harold Ramis (address) and Bill Murray (playing) gave its best results in this hilarious film, designed for entertaining family film that will soon surpass those expectations to become a classic modern.
Ramis and Murray met while filming "Stripes" and worked together even in the highly recommended "what about Bob?" Directed by Ramis.
Murray has often been criticized and is an actor who does not enjoy the prestige it deserves, often embarked on productions of dubious institution has demonstrated that when the time is ripe is one of the best American comedians in Groundhog Day signed possibly his best role in a film tailor-made.
Phil Murray is an arrogant and cocky TV presenter will, very reluctantly, to transmit a year over the traditional celebration of Groundhog Day in the small town of Punxsutawney, will accompany the event, as part of your TV set , Rita (Andie McDowell) and Larry (Chris Elliott). The day normally trancurre but Phil wants to end as soon as possible and return to the city, their plans, however, be thwarted when an unexpected snowstorm forces the team to stay overnight in the village.
The next morning, upon awakening, Phil has the strange sensation of reliving the previous day, until he discovers it's not just a feeling, again and again, day after day, again the Groundhog Day in Punxsutawney .
Based on an approach not too original or too risky to get Harold Ramis Groundhog Day round to make a film, a truly memorable movie moments and hilarious gags, Bill Murray has enough space to develop their full potential humor, the character of Phil evolves, the various stages, from initial disbelief, positivism final stage through a hilarious suicide, Phil lives hundreds of times on the day of the groundhog and has to devise different solutions to a day that is always the same, although their solutions are not always the most successful.
The film is beautifully made, with an extremely dynamic and lively pace, without falling into the typical mistakes of modern comedies, there is no free or sentimental sketches of balance, Groundhog Day meets the standards of the classic comedy, seeking film suitable for the whole family but without sacrificing intelligence or quality.
The comic film has traditionally been undervalued, even though everyone agrees that it is always harder to laugh than to mourn, Groundhog Day has no more claim to make people laugh, and certainly succeeds. No longer make movies like that.
