Love
Forever Changes
Elektra / Warner 1968

"Forever Changes" is often cited as the "hippie disc, the disc that best sums up the spirit of those years confused and innocent. Indeed, "forever changes" that is, but is also much, much more.
Love is above all Arthur Lee, an eccentric genius who roam the San Francisco 1966 wrapped in a toxic cloud, Lee had a number of military bands, in a scene flooded with great talents, including Jimi Hendrix, but where serious Love show their full potential, all of its magic.
"Forever Changes" is a fantastic journey for the America of the time, a confusing, contradictory, drowned in their own existence, and is also a journey through the music created in these contradictions; combine Love Rock, Pop, psychedelics, Folk, Rocabilly, in a unique way, never seen until then, the songs sound flooded the area in a fire, explosive.
"Alone again or .." is a disturbing statement of love that opens the disc, and that prepares the listener for what comes after, and heard the winds, electric guitars, the acoustic. More "A house is not a motel with a dynamic hard to describe, easy to feel a tension, in fact the tensions within Love mark the result of this record, the last of the original training.
"Again and more" delicious melody directly related to the "Pet Sounds" of the Beach Boys, and after it, the most amazing sequence of songs that can be found on disc one: "The Daily Planet," "Old Man", " the telephone network, maybe the people would be the times or between Clark and Hilldale "," live and let live "... will desgranando with a unique majesty.
A unique album, the classic among classics.

Absolutely agree with the comments of Luis. (At the moment I'm listening to vinyl, Sundazed reissue of 2001).
For me, until recently, was DISCO Love Da Capo. It was the first thing I will buy more than 15 years. We continually hear many of the songs I recorded in my musical imagination with blood and fire, "Orange Skies," "She comes in colors, and the wonderful suite" Revelations. "
Love filled me with this, I dare not ask for more.
My love of collecting led me to acquire the rest of his work, first the "Revisited" and the "Love". Listen further strengthened my belief in the quality of composition of the band. Topics such as "My Little Red Book," "Softly to Me" or the version of "Hey Joe" added new belief to the fact meet one of the most beautiful pop band who had never heard.
From that moment I could not discard the purchase of "Forever Changes", which had on occasion, given its acquisition as "not necessary".
Sounds now "Maybe the people would be the times or between Clark and Hilldale" and appreciate the wealth of nuances, the soft surround of many wind instruments, which are considered trivial in the classical meaning of any group instrumental rock / pop (guitar, bass and drums), and give the song a sense of "perpetual allegro" difficult to imagine the feeling of open borders that floats along the entire disc.
Yes, definitely for me this is the album Love.
Special mention for his excellent English pronunciation in the songs of Arthur Lee and Love has also Bryan McLean, author of the major themes of the musical group.

100% agree with your words, and also with those of J. Gregorio. "Forever Changes" is an album that marks a masterpiece in every sense of the word. You can not never heard anything like it simply because it is unique and unrepeatable.

    A greeting.

Unfortunately another genius who was going. If you recently came to Syd Barrett, Arthur Lee, this time is leaving us. Long ago, deservedly, this disc has already been recognized as one of the largest in the history of rock:
"On August 3, 2006 killed the musician, composer and former component of the 'Love' Arthur Lee to 61 years a victim of leukemia."
